About the event

GENERAL INFORMATION -

In this SIMULATED PROJECT MANAGMENT course, we will teach students how to design and produce events from start to finish.  This certification is suitable for anyone who is looking to produce corperate events, fundraisers or launch event.  Once certified, you will be able to become a certified event designer/producer.  

*This entire program will culminate in anctual FUNDRAISING EVENT ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 8th.  

*This will be a fundraiser for the RAINFOREST Foundation*

PROGRAM DETAILS - 

Students will start by meeting their client for the client intake process.  In this case, the client is THE RAINFOREST FOUNDATION.  They will then imagine how to best convert all the appropriate information into design by create layouts, hire and manage the right vendors, create timelines, ROF documents, production documents and budgets, with an emphasis on high-end and luxury elements of design.  You will work with a wide variety of vendors, form industry relationships and work alongside real industry professionals.

*Note: this course is 30% lecture and 70% hands-on active design and production* 

A list of subjects that will have to complete IRL for this program:

  • Meet your REAL LIFE client and learn how to ask the right questions.  
  • Learn the entire event design and planning process including:   Client Run of Show, Internal Run of Show, Staffing Roll and Evaluations.                                 
    • Selling your Services; Budgeting and expectations of your client. 
    • Building Vendor Relationships; How to find/spot/manage vendors.
    • You will brand this event in more than just visual ways by designing the menu and other offerings.
    • Learn to work with Budgets & Contracts.
    • Learn to manage using the Openning & Closing Lists
    • Building A Coctail Menu
    • Designing Signage
    • Layouts using industry software: BeMerri & Details
    • Event & Tabletop Design
    • Floral Installation
    • Lighting Installation
    • Presentation Tools: Canva and Others

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Day One – Monday:

  • Introduction to the event design process including : Client Intake and practice client intake strategies
  • Client Intake (12:00pm)
  • Sales and budgeting discussion of sales and services. 
  • Build production timelines, vendor choices, and shot lists.
  • Mood/Story Boarding for entire event

Day Two – Tuesday:

  • Vendor confirmations 
  • Managing budgets, 
  • Create event timelines, and 
  • determine entire site plan.

Day Three – Wednesday:

  • Production Day including prepping: tables, linens, votives, lighting, table flowers recipes.

Day Four – Thursday:

  • Day of practice event, florals, photograph table-scapes & room, venue staffing and assignments

Day Five – Friday:

  • Final debrief, event breakdown, debrief process, sales and services, and graduation.
