Beginners to Advanced
Skills Programs
Skills Programs at FlowerSchool NY are designed for individuals seeking to develop professional-level floral design skills. These programs focus on creating high-quality arrangements and bouquets suitable for a professional setting.
Our Skills Programs are structured to build progressively—each level deepening your technique and understanding. They should be taken in the following order:
Introduction Series → Intermediate Series → Advanced Series
For those looking to accelerate their learning, we offer a 5-Day Intensive that combines both the Introduction and Intermediate Series into one week-long session.

2-Day Introduction to Design Series
The 2-Day Introduction to Design Series teaches students the elemental technical skills of floral design that professional florists use everyday. These skills focus on correctly using floral tools, time management of working with florals, working with a variety of flower types, as well as the basic structures that all floral arrangements are based upon. As we teach the 6 Pillars of Floral Conditioning, this series will cover the first three pillars.

3-Day Intermediate Design Series
After learning the basic floristry techniques in the Introduction Series, the Intermediate Series will introduce the next level of floral design skills and techniques as well as introductions into purchasing flowers and building recipes. This course teaches students invaluable skills of sourcing and buying flowers, which sets up students to become higher quality florists. It will also prepare students to create more arrangement styles, including a bridal bouquet and large-scale branch arrangement. This class teaches the rest of the 6 Pillars of Floral Conditioning, commonly used by professional florists.

5-Day Intensive Series
For those looking to accelerate their learning, we offer a 5-Day Intensive that combines both the Introduction and Intermediate Series into one week-long session.

2-Day Advanced Design Series
The Advanced Design Series builds upon the Introduction and Intermediate Series programs teaching students more advanced techniques, such as color theory, recipe building and, ultimately, developing personal style in floral design. This course gives students the confidence to take their skills to the next level, pushing them to become true floral designers. Students will be taught advanced level techniques and will learn how to differentiate, and create, design styles including organic, classic and modern style. In this series, each student will be responsible for creating a design concept, creating their own color palette for each technique, and selecting flowers to best fit their concept. Guidance is given based on color, texture and scale appropriateness, and new designer mechanic techniques are featured.
Beginners to Advanced: All are welcome

They will then purchase florals materials, create a mockup for the event’s designs, and present to the “client.” This is a great opportunity for students to learn event production with specific client requests, budgets, and, of course, flowers. This course is taught by a Wedding Design & Floral Expert that gives students the tools to complete this large-scale project followed by open studio time to create proposals, purchase flowers, develop designs, and finally give a presentation.
This course is the culmination of the classroom portion of the six-week Floral Design Program and acts as a “final project” as each student designs their own wedding look from concept to presentation over three days.
